Trinitario cacao was born of the hybridization of Criollo and Forestero brought in country. Gran Couva, in the central part of Trinidad is considered ideal for growing and cultivating cacao.

The Trinitario grown here was the first to be made into a single estate bar by the Valrhona Chocolate company.

For the first time, Valrhona has allowed exports from this estate to the rest of the world.
